PSV Eindhoven’s hopes of re-signing Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel on another loan are set to be dashed because of his persistent injury issues.

Van Ginkel has already had three loan stints with the Dutch side and was the lynchpin of the PSV team that won the league title last season.

But the Dutchman has been out of action for the season due to a knee injury and was scheduled to return to action during the latter stages of the campaign.

PSV Eindhoven were plotting to sign him on another loan move, but it has been claimed that he is unlikely to be joining the club this summer.

According to Dutch daily Het Eindhoven Dagblad, the midfielder could again undergo surgery on his knee in the near future, which is likely to rule him out for the start of the new season.

With the midfielder unlikely to be fit for the start of the new season, PSV are unlikely to approach Chelsea to sign the midfielder on loan.

Van Ginkel joined Chelsea from Vitesse and has had loan spells at AC Milan and Stoke City before joining PSV for his first loan stint in 2016.

He has a contract until the end of next season with the Blues and it remains to be seen what plans the club have for him given his persistent injury issues.
