Talk that Manchester United have all but done a deal to sign Leeds United target Daniel James from Swansea City this summer has been played down.

Leeds chased James in the January transfer window and he was at Elland Road on deadline day waiting to complete a switch to the Whites.

But Swansea pulled the plug on the move and James headed back to the Liberty Stadium.

Leeds have continued to be linked with James, but it has been claimed that Manchester United are rapidly closing in on snapping the winger up.

But, according to the BBC, no deal has been done yet for James to make the move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United do hold an interest in the Swansea star, but they are only one of several clubs keen on landing him when the summer transfer window rolls out.

News of Manchester United's interest is a blow for Leeds, who may find it difficult to compete with the Red Devils for the winger's signature.

James was a standout performer for Swansea this season and the Welsh giants have been keen to persuade him to sign a new contract.
