Former Roma defender Juan has admitted he wants Liverpool to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid because of his former team-mate Alisson.

Jurgen Klopp’s men booked their berth in the Champions League final for the second time in a row after a historic comeback win over Barcelona in the second leg at Anfield on Tuesday, while Tottenham mounted an impressive come-from-behind win at Ajax to qualify.

The Reds overturned a 3-0 deficit from the first leg last week, as they ran out 4-0 winners on the night, while Spurs won 3-2 at Ajax to draw 3-3 on aggregate and go through on away goals.

Alisson was key in Liverpool's win as he pulled off a string of superb saves to stop Barcelona scoring.

The 26-year-old, who played alongside Juan during their time at Internacional in Brazil, was at the peak of his powers and played an equally important role compared to goalscorers Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum.

And in the wake of their progression to the final, Juan has admitted he wants Liverpool to be crowned champions ahead of Tottenham due to his friendship with Alisson.

The former Brazil international also insisted that he knew Alisson would become a phenomenon in the future, while playing alongside his former team-mate at Internacional.

"I hope Liverpool [win the Champions League final] because my friend Alisson is there”, Juan Italian daily Il Tempo, when asked who he wants to win the final.

“I played with him at Internacional and I already knew he was a phenomenon.”

Allison, who joined Liverpool from Roma in a blockbuster deal last summer, has kept 25 cleansheets from 49 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this term.
