Former Leeds United defender Ben Parker has warned over the threat of Derby County striker Martyn Waghorn.

Leeds lock horns with Derby in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final first leg this evening, at Pride Park, and both teams will be looking for an advantage ahead of the second leg at Elland Road.

The Whites comprehensively got the better of Derby over the two league meetings this season, but the Rams want revenge and Parker thinks in Waghorn they have a dangerous player.

However, the former Leeds defender feels if the Whites are on song then they are unlikely to need to worry too much about Waghorn.

"He's one of those annoying strikers who doesn't give you a minute's rest, but you come up against these strikers throughout the season in the Championship", Parker said on LUTV while previewing the game.

"Don't give him a sniff. He can take a chance. He proved it when he was up at Rangers, he got quite a few goals for those.

"He's one of these guys you've got to keep a leash on him.

"But if we play at the top of our game then don't worry about him", Parker added.

Leeds head into the playoff clash on the back of poor form, with just seven points collected in their prior six Championship games, while Derby finished off their campaign by taking 14 points from their last six matches, as they booked sixth place in the standings.
