Ronaldo Vieira has wished Leeds United well ahead of the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final tie against Derby County.

Inconsistent form after the turn of the year saw Leeds lose out in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League, but the Whites have another chance to go up, through the playoffs.

And Vieira, who Leeds sold to Italian Serie A side Sampdoria last summer to help balance the books, is keen to see his former club go all the way.

He wrote on Twitter: "Massive good luck to the boys today, been fantastic all season, go and make an unforgettable one."

Leeds won both of their Championship meetings with Frank Lampard's Derby this season and will start as heavy favourites to progress through the tie and book an outing at Wembley.

There is extra spice added to the tie due to the spygate affair, with Leeds fined earlier this season after admitting sending a spy to watch Derby train.

Leeds, if they progress, will play either Aston Villa or West Brom in the playoff final at Wembley.
