Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he is now enjoying Spurs having reached the Champions League final more, following his side's 2-2 draw against Everton, than he did on the night they achieved it, in Amsterdam.

Tottenham started strongly in front of the home fans against Everton and took the lead with just three minutes on the clock through Eric Dier.

Everton could not deal with a ball put into the box and it fell to Dier, who made no mistake as he shot past Jordan Pickford.

Tottenham were on top and Lucas Moura had a pop from range, before Dele Alli set up Fernando Llorente, whose effort from the edge of the box just rose over the top of the bar.

But Everton started to come into the game and nearly levelled through Bernard, whose low effort was saved by Hugo Lloris.

Everton did level, through former Arsenal star Theo Walcott, who placed an effort past Lloris, into the corner of the net in the 69th minute.

Three minutes later and Everton were ahead as Cenk Tosun managed to score.

In the 75th minute though it was 2-2, Christian Eriksen hitting a superb free-kick into the back of the net from outside the area.

It ended 2-2, with Tottenham finishing fourth and having a Champions League final against Liverpool to look forward to at the start of next month.

And in the aftermath of Tottenham's final Premier League game, Pochettino let reaching the Champions League final sink in.

He told the BBC's Match of the Day programme: "Now I realise it was a special moment, I am enjoying it now more than Wednesday night – there was a lot of emotion, that now you realise and I enjoy looking at the pictures and videos, you can appreciate every single moment."

Pochettino also hailed his players for finishing fourth and reaching the final.

"I want to congratulate my players, they are superheroes.

"At the start of the season no one would believe. It's a massive achievement, I feel so proud but we have not finished our season.

"We have three weeks to prepare for the final, which will be one of the most important games in our history.

"The characteristic of this season is never giving up. The team's spirit has been fantastic."
