Celtic legend Kris Commons believes that Jonny Hayes was the only Bhoys player who looked to take the game to Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.

Neil Lennon's men were second best in the Scottish Premiership encounter as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Scott Arfield.

Commons is displeased with suggestions that Rangers wanted it more in the Glasgow derby than Celtic, which he feels should never be the case.

And Commons, who was disappointed with centre-back pair Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic, picked out Hayes as the only Celtic player taking the game to Rangers.

"I thought Simunovic and Ajer were poor today", Commons said on Sky Sports Main Event after the game.

"I thought Jonny Hayes was the only one who actually had an intent to try and take the game to Rangers, just by running.

"For me, if you're playing for Celtic against Rangers and they want it more, you don't deserve to wear the jersey.

"That is the minimum requirement for Celtic at Rangers, you want to win the game", he added.

Celtic are now six points ahead of Rangers in the Premiership standings, having already wrapped up the title.

The Bhoys are expected to make signings over the summer transfer window, which is quickly approaching, and have yet to confirm who will be their manager for next term.
