Xavier Mbuyamba, who is attracting interest from Celtic, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, FC Porto and Liverpool, would have been happy to extend his stay at Dutch side MVV.

The 17-year-old is set to spend time at Chelsea as he plots his next move, but MVV could have locked him down had they displayed a better attitude, his representative insists.

Indeed, Carlos Barros says that Mbuyamba was ready to continue his development at the Dutch club and in no rush to leave.

He told Dutch magazine Voetbal International: "When the proposal came, Xavier was suddenly put on the bench because he did not immediately sign.

"That attitude made us look around [at his options]. It is a pity because he would have liked to have played for MVV for another one or two years", he added.

The defender is interesting Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Porto and Celtic, while Heracles and FC Groningen want to keep him in the Netherlands.

Barros is surprised that Dutch clubs have been so slow to note his client's potential and availability, and admits that Chelsea's offer is currently the most attractive; the defender will train with the Blues' youth teams in the coming days.

"It seems as if the Dutch clubs have been sleeping a little, though it may also be because Xavier has been sitting on the bench for a while because he did not immediately accept MVV's offer.

"Chelsea currently have the best papers.

"We now have to wait and see what his feeling is at that club", Barros added, confirming the Stamford Bridge visit.

"We are not quite sure yet what we are going to do. His development is central to that choice."

Mbuyamba managed to make eleven appearances in the Dutch second tier this season, picking up one yellow card and one sending off.

He featured against the likes of Jong PSV Eindhoven, Jong AZ Alkmaar and Roda JC.
