La Liga giants Barcelona have rejected Benfica's initial offer for their second-choice goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

The Dutch international has a contract with Barcelona running through until 2021 and a €60m release clause.

The Dutchman is keen to play more football going forward and has been linked with an exit from the Camp Nou.

Benfica, who are in the market for a strong pair of hands, have made a move to land Cillessen, but have come up short.

The Portuguese giants put an offer of between €10m and €15m on the table for Cillessen, but it has been rejected by Barcelona, according to Catalan daily Sport

Barcelona are claimed to be looking for €30m in order to let the shot-stopper leave.

Cillessen, 30, joined Barcelona in 2016 from Dutch giants Ajax.

Barcelona are interested in Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo, a player who started his career at the Camp Nou, but the Portuguese giants will not sell him for less than his €60m release clause.
