Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has told the club's supporters to enjoy the weeks leading up to their first ever Champions League final and believes luck could be on Spurs' side when it comes to the meeting with Liverpool.

Having suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, Tottenham had all to do in the return leg in Amsterdam.

Things went from bad to worse in the first half at Ajax, as the Lilywhites found themselves two goals down heading into the final 45 minutes of the tie.

Fortunately for the visitors, former Paris Saint-Germain man Lucas Moura came to his side's rescue and scored an incredible second-half hat-trick to send the north London club through on away goals and set up a final meeting with Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Tottenham's opponents, Liverpool, staged their own magical comeback as they beat Barcelona 4-0 to turn around a 3-0 first leg loss.

Roberts, who served the club for six years between 1980 and 1986, has now asked Tottenham fans to enjoy the weeks leading up to the grand event while noting the 'auspicious' date of the final, which he believes could mean luck is on Spurs' side against Liverpool.

He tweeted: "Enjoy the next few weeks build up and soak it all up! We have all waited a long time for this moment. COYS"

Another tweet read: "In 1961 Spurs did the double. On 1/6/19 we play [in the] Champions League [final]. Is this a coincidence when you flip the date. COYS"

Mauricio Pochettino's team, who will look to win their first ever Champions League in June, finished fourth in the Premier League this season, while opponents Liverpool came second.
