Former Celtic scout Peter Houston has urged the Bhoys to get on and appoint a new head of recruitment after the departure of Lee Congerton.

The Glasgow outfit have secured their eighth Scottish Premiership in a row and are already plotting a path to the ninth next season.

Celtic recently saw Congerton leave the club, meaning they now need to appoint a new head of recruitment, ahead of the summer transfer window

In the wake of Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Rangers, some fans are demanding that significant strengthening is carried out in the summer. And Houston insists Celtic need to get someone in through the door as head of recruitment

Houston told the Evening Times: "I know that Celtic are going to lose a few players and a few players are going to move on

"It [the new head of recruitment] is an important decision and it has to be made fairly soon. You need time to see players.

"There will be a bank of players there, it just needs everything pulled together.

"It starts by getting the manager in place and then the manager has to make sure of his recruitment.

"Having been a manager, I know that recruitment is crucial."

Celtic have been linked with potentially bringing John Park back to the club.

During the nine years that he spent as the head of football development at Celtic, Park was responsible for signing the likes of Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk, and Victor Wanyama.
