Leeds United legend Eddie Gray feels everyone associated with the Whites will know their playoff semi-final against Derby County is far from over and insists scoring an early goal would further damage the Rams’ chances.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men secured a slender advantage over the Rams in the playoff semi-finals with a 1-0 win during the first leg clash at Pride Park on Saturday.

As such, Frank Lampard’s side will now carry the extra weight on their shoulders during the trip to face Leeds at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the return leg.

And ahead of the crucial meeting between the sides, Gray feels everyone associated with Leeds, including the players, will know the job is only half done after their win in the first leg encounter.

The Whites legend stressed Leeds are only leading at half-time with respect to the overall context of the two-legged affair and insists scoring an early goal in the second leg on Wednesday would make life extremely difficult for Derby at Elland Road.

“Overall, I think the chief coach will be delighted with the performance of the players, but the players and the fans and everybody connected with the club, we know it’s only half time”, Gray said on LUTV.

“But the good thing is, as soon as the game starts [at Elland Road] on Wednesday night and we’re 1-0 up in the game and they’ve got to score two goals to beat us here, that’s a big ask for them.”
