Napoli have identified alternative targets to Kieran Trippier, in case they are unable to secure a deal for the Tottenham Hotspur full-back this summer.

Trippier, who has been linked with a move away from north London in recent weeks, has emerged as a priority target for Napoli during the summer transfer window.

The Italian giants are believed to be interested in snaring Trippier away from the Premier League during the close season and have already failed with a bid for the defender.

Despite their concrete interest in Trippier, it remains to be seen whether Spurs are willing to play ball with Napoli in the negotiations to cash in on one of their first team players.

Napoli could also face competition from Manchester United in the race for Trippier and are keen to have other options, if the deal fails to materialise.

As such, the Naples outfit have zeroed in on two potential alternatives, if they are unable to secure a deal for Trippier during the summer.

According to Italian broadcaster Rai Sport, Napoli have identified Atalanta pair Timothy Castagne and Hans Hateboer as potential targets, in case they fall short in their attempt to land Trippier.

Both Castagne and Hateboer have played an integral role during Atalanta’s meteoric rise under Gian Piero Gasperini in Serie A so far this season.

It remains to be seen whether Napoli can convince Spurs to allow Trippier to make the switch to Serie A.

In that case, Atalanta would be saved from a raid on them following a remarkable season.
