Calum Chambers believes that Fulham's trip to Liverpool was the turning point in his spell on loan at Craven Cottage from Arsenal.

Chambers joined Fulham from Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and spent the 2018/19 campaign playing mostly as a defensive midfielder for the Cottagers.

After playing in six of Fulham's opening 11 Premier League games as a centre-back, Chambers was deployed as a defensive midfielder at Liverpool.

Despite playing out of position, Chambers showed commendable work rate and adaptability. Fulham lost 2-0 at Anfield, but Chambers' commitment on the day helped him keep his place in the team for the remainder of the campaign.

And Chambers views Fulham's trip to Liverpool as the moment his season changed for the better.

Speaking to Fulham's official website, he said: "For me, personally, it was a bit of a tough start. I started the first two games but then didn’t really play and was out of the team for quite a while.

"It was quite a tough start to the season for me, and luckily I had Scotty [Scott Parker] who kept me working hard.

"He made sure my head was staying in the right place, made sure I kept working hard and kept myself going to get back in the team.

"Then when we played Liverpool away I got put in midfield and that was sort of the turning point in the season for me.

"Since then I’ve taken every game as it’s come and really enjoyed playing at this club."

Chambers is under contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2022, but it remains to be seen if he features in Unai Emery's plans.
