Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be forced to sit out Chelsea's Europa League final clash with Arsenal after coming off with an ankle injury in Wednesday's friendly clash in the United States.

Maurizio Sarri's men cruised to a 3-0 win over New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium, with an Olivier Giroud header sandwiched between a Ross Barkley brace sealing the game for the Blues.

Loftus-Cheek, who was named in the starting eleven in the final match before the Europa League showpiece, went down clutching his left ankle in the first half before being assisted off the pitch by the Chelsea medical staff.

Before making the trip, Sarri had voiced his concerns about participating in a friendly so close to the Europa League final.

And according to the BBC, the Chelsea manager could be forced to make do in Baku without the in-form England international.

Chelsea take on Premier League and crosstown rivals Arsenal in the Europa League final on 29th May.

The friendly between New England Revolution and Chelsea raised £3.1m for charity.
