Former Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is unsure whether Marcelo Bielsa will carry on as Whites head coach due to the huge demands of a season in the Championship.

Bielsa's dream of leading Leeds to the Premier League this season went up in smoke on Wednesday night when Derby County pulled off a shock 4-2 win at Elland Road to edge the Championship playoff semi-final between the two clubs 4-3.

Now Leeds must make ready for another season in the Championship and Bielsa could leave this summer if he decides his time at Elland Road is up.

He has said he will listen to what Leeds have to say and Grayson is unsure whether the man who will turn 64 in July will want to sign on for another mammoth 46-game campaign.

"Based on what he's done this year it's important that he stays because he has been absolutely fantastic for the club", Grayson said on BBC Radio Leeds following the Derby loss.

"The way that they've played, the way that they've excited everybody, how far they've got from last season.

"That will I am sure be his decision because it is a tough call.

"This Championship is demanding physically, mentally, and the intensity that he puts into his work is very difficult to maintain for somebody of his age as well.

"But I am sure that he will have loved being at this football club.

"Time will tell whether he decides to stay or not", the former Leeds boss added.

Bielsa may want to see what backing Leeds can offer to resist the departure of key players and also strengthen the squad over the course of the summer transfer window.
