West Ham United left-back Aaron Cresswell has revealed he voted for Raheem Sterling in the PFA Player of the Year awards, but believes Virgil van Dijk has transformed Liverpool.

The Liverpool centre-back has been one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's team-sheet since moving from Southampton in January 2018. In his first season, he helped the Reds to their first Champions League final in a decade and has not looked back since.

This season, he led the Liverpool backline as they emerged as the meanest defence in the Premier League, conceding only 22 goals over the course of the season.

The Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League, but the Dutchman and his team have the opportunity to end their season on a high by lifting the Champions League on 1st June.

With Liverpool's Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur just a fortnight away, West Ham's Cresswell has hailed the impact Van Dijk has had and called the defender a "man mountain" at the back.

When asked to name his player of the season, he told West Ham's official website: "I'm going to go with either Virgil van Dijk or Raheem Sterling.

"I voted for Sterling in the PFA vote, but Van Dijk has been an absolute rock in the Premier League and the Champions League and has arguably changed Liverpool compared to where they were before he joined.
