Tottenham Hotspur linked midfielder Donny van de Beek has refused to rule out a departure from Ajax this summer.

Van de Beek has been a key part of the Ajax team that won the Dutch league title and shocked many in Europe with their run to the Champions League semi-finals this season.

He is one of the players who have been linked with a move away from Ajax this summer, but the Dutch champions do not want to lose him and likely to offer him an improved contract.

But the player is not so sure about where he will be playing his football next season and refused to confirm that he will stay at Ajax beyond the end of the transfer window.

Van de Beek, who has been linked with Tottenham as a replacement for Christian Eriksen if he leaves, admits that he does not know whether he will be staying or going, but insisted that he feels happy and proud to be part of a team that enjoyed so much success this season.

“Of course one would want clarity as soon as possible but now I can’t say anything about it”, the midfielder told Ajax Life when asked about his future.

“Suppose something arrives later and I really can’t say ‘no’.

“For now I am especially proud that I have been allowed to be part of the team this season.”

He added: “I cannot say that I am leaving or staying.

“You never know in football but I am very happy that I can play football in this team and that I can be part of this.”

Real Madrid have also been linked with Van de Beek as a potential alternative to Manchester United's Paul Pogba.
