Newly crowned Belgian champions Genk have dropped a big hint that they are preparing for life without Arsenal and Wolfsburg target Leandro Trossard.

Genk sealed the Jupiler Pro League title earlier this week after establishing an unassailable four-point lead at the top of the Championship Group standings.

A number of their players have been linked with moves away on the back of their successful season, not least winger Trossard.

The 24-year-old has scored 22 goals in 46 games, across all competitions, for Genk this season and will be tough for the club to replace.

But in a sign that Trossard is heading for the exit door, Genk have opened talks with Zulte Waregem to land winger Theo Bongonda, according to Belgian outlet Voetbal Krant.

Bongonda is viewed as the ideal replacement for Trossard and the club have made his capture a transfer priority.

He scored 14 goals this season and provided 13 assists, form which has also led to interest from Anderlecht, Club Brugge and Standard Liege.

Zulte Waregem paid €1.6m to sign Bongonda from Spanish outfit Celta Vigo, meaning the winger is expected to command a fee in the region of €3m.

With Genk expected to bank big money for Trossard however, Bongonda's fee should be within reach.
