Manchester City and Liverpool have both scouted Manchester United target Sean Longstaff, according to the Chronicle

The North Shields-born midfielder has emerged as a potential target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Longstaff was close to the Newcastle United exit door, but has turned his stint at St. James' Park around and is now a highly rated midfield talent.

And it has emerged that both Manchester City and Manchester United have had scouts watching Longstaff.

It remains to be seen if Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp opt to make a summer move for Longstaff, something which could put them on a collision course with Manchester United.

Newcastle however remain set against selling Longstaff.

His contract at St. James' Park is due to run until the summer of 2022, putting the Magpies in a strong position.
