Manchester United are interested in snapping up Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff during the ongoing summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports News.

A product of the Newcastle academy, the midfielder broke into the first team in the second half of the season and made an impression during his limited appearances.

He has been out of action since March with a knee injury but the 21-year-old midfielder did enough in his nine Premier League appearances to attract interest.

And it has now been claimed Manchester United are considering taking him to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are looking to invest heavily into their midfielder and will not shy away from big money to sign top players.

But Ole Gunner Solskjaer is also keen to add young and hungry British talent to his squad and Longstaff seems to be one of the players he wants this summer.

He still has a contract until 2022 and Manchester United would have to do some convincing for Newcastle to sell the player as they rate him highly.

It remains to be seen what kind of price tag Newcastle could hang on him if Manchester United make a concrete move for him.
