Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke has congratulated his former club Genk on winning the Belgian top flight title.

Genk were crowned champions of Belgium after their 1-1 draw against Anderlecht secured the league title on Thursday at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

Philippe Clement’s men hold a four-point lead over second-placed Club Brugge with just a single game remaining in the season and secured their first league title since 2011.

And in the wake of their success in Belgium, Genk have received warm regards from one of their former players in the form of Benteke.

The striker, who left Genk to join Aston Villa in 2012, congratulated his former team for the achievement and reminded them to enjoy the moment.

Benteke also admitted he enjoyed some amazing times with Genk and added that he owes them a lot for everything they did to help him during his formative years.

“Congratulations to Genk on winning the League”, Benteke wrote on Twitter.
