Rangers target Jonathan Klinsmann has opened up on his impending exit from Hertha Berlin, with the goalkeeper also having received enquiries from Austria and Switzerland.

Klinsmann, who is currently plying his trade in the fourth-tier in Germany for Hertha Berlin’s second string side, has just a few months remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club.

Despite not making his senior debut for Hertha Berlin, the 22-year-old has emerged as a target for Rangers in their search to find an able deputy for Allan McGregor this summer.

Both Wes Foderingham and Jack Alnwick could move away from Ibrox in search of better opportunities and that leaves a vacant spot for Klinsmann to fill.

The Gers watched the shot-stopper in action for Hertha Berlin against Lokomotiv Leipzig in the fourth-tier last week.

And in the wake of rumours linking him with a move to Ibrox, Klinsmann has confirmed his decision to leave Hertha at the end of the season.

The shot-stopper admitted that he learned plenty during his two-year-long association with Hertha Berlin and cited playing at a higher level as his reason to seek a new challenge in the summer.

"I have learned a lot in the two years, now I want to reach the next level”, Klinsmann was quoted as saying by German daily Bild.

“Unfortunately, that is not possible with Hertha.”

Klinsmann has received enquiries from both Austria and Switzerland, in a sign Rangers will likely face competition for his signature.
