Borussia Dortmund have held talks with the representative of Tottenham Hotspur linked midfielder Denis Zakaria with a view to signing him this summer.

The Swiss midfielder joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Young Boys in 2017 and has impressed with his performances over the last two seasons.

Zakaria has been tipped to move to a bigger club and several teams have been keeping tabs on him over the course of the current season.

He was linked with a move to the Premier League in January with Tottenham believed to be keen on signing him during the winter window.

Zakaria has fresh suitors in Dortmund this summer and, according to German outlet Fussball Transfers, BVB have already been making moves to sign him in the coming months.

It has been claimed that Dortmund have been in touch with his representative and have been discussing the possibility of taking him to the Westfalenstadion.

The club want to spend this summer improving their midfield options and Zakaria has emerged as a possible option.

But for the moment Monchengladbach do not want to sell the Swiss midfielder and they want to hold on to him for next season, when the club will again play in European competition.

It remains to be seen if the situation changes, or if Tottenham opt to become involved in the race for Zakaria.
