Steven Gerrard has dubbed Rangers head of performance Jordan Milsom the best in the business and insists that is why he raided Liverpool for the former Leicester City man.

Milsom was working as head of fitness at Liverpool, with the Reds' Under-18s, which brought him into contact with Gerrard.

And when Gerrard was offered and accepted the manager's job at Rangers, he quickly decided to go back to Liverpool and take Milsom north of the border.

As Rangers played their final game of the season at Kilmarnock on Sunday there were few signs of tiredness, even after a lengthy campaign which also took in Europa League action.

For Gerrard that is no surprise, with him rating Milsom as the best in the business.

"He's the best. It's the reason I brought him in", Gerrard told Rangers TV.

"I've got every confidence in all my staff, Tom [Culshaw], Mick [Beale], Jordan, Gary [McAllister].

"We are improving the medical team, we are improving a lot of areas of the football club, on and off the pitch", he added.

Milsom will be handed the task of preparing Rangers to hit the ground running at the start of next season, with the Gers having Europa League qualifiers to navigate.

Gerrard's men managed to reach the group stage of the competition last term.
