Rangers loan star Jermain Defoe has admitted he has rediscovered his love for football after joining the Gers from Bournemouth in January.

Defoe, who sparingly featured for Bournemouth during the first half of the season, secured a loan switch to Rangers during the winter transfer window.  
 



And despite taking his time to settle down at Ibrox, Defoe has slowly but steadily impressed under the guidance of Steven Gerrard in Glasgow.

As such, the Bournemouth loanee feels he has rediscovered his love for football after joining Rangers during the winter transfer break in January.
 


The 36-year-old also conceded his time away from the pitch on the south coast in England was hard to take at the time and admitted moving to Rangers has been a great experience.



“Yes, a 100 per cent [I’ve rediscovered my love for football after joining Rangers in January]”, Defoe told Rangers TV.

“Especially me, I love football, everyone knows that. Almost felt like my time at Bournemouth was difficult and I was being human, of course you see those things, that was the point.

“When you’ve been in the game for so long and you’re so used to playing, and all of a sudden, you’re not playing for whatever reason, especially when it’s hard to understand, it was tough.

“There were times when I used to get home and think, ‘it’s no point’, and then obviously, when I got the call to come to Rangers, it was an easy decision because an opportunity to play for another massive club and to do well.

"So yes, it’s been great.”

Defoe scored six goals and registered five assists from 17 appearances in the Premiership this term.
