Aberdeen are set to beat Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts to the signature of former Middlesbrough striker Curtis Main, according to Sky Sports News

The 26-year-old has run down his contract and will be joining the Scottish outfit on a free transfer.

Aberdeen tried to sign the player in the winter transfer window, but the Motherwell no.9 chose to keep his options open until the end of the season.

Derek McInnes now looks set to get his man, with Main poised to move to Pittodrie

It has been claimed the signing will be made official by the end of the week.

Hearts also wanted to land Main, but Craig Levein has lost out on signing the Motherwell striker.

The 26-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Darlington, joined Motherwell from Portsmouth in 2018.
