Borussia Dortmund have joined the chase for Germany Under-21 goalkeeper Markus Schubert, putting them on a collision course with Arsenal.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract at Dynamo Dresden at the end of the season and is set to leave the club.

The shot-stopper has impressed with his performances in the German second tier and has caught the eye of several clubs in and outside Germany.

Arsenal are eyeing him as a possible replacement for soon-to-be-retired Petr Cech and Schubert has hired an agent who specialises in moving goalkeepers to England, but he also has several clubs in the Bundesliga vying for his signature.

And according to German magazine Sport Bild, Dortmund are also interested in taking Schubert to the Westfalenstadion this summer.

However, BVB would only offer him the position of the third choice goalkeeper and it remains to be seen whether the youngster would agree to such a role.

Bayer Leverkusen, SC Freiburg, VfB Stuttgart and FC Augsburg are also keen to snap up the young goalkeeper this summer.

Arsenal already have one German goalkeeper in their ranks in the shape of Bernd Leno.
