Schalke have tabled a lucrative contract offer for Dodi Lukebakio, but are still far away from matching Watford’s asking price for the player.

The 21-year-old Belgian has impressed during his loan stint at Fortuna Dusseldorf and has managed to pop up on the transfer radar of several clubs.  
 



RB Leipzig are claimed to be eyeing him as a potential replacement for Timo Werner and Schalke are looking to extend his stay in the Bundesliga.

The Gelsenkirchen outfit have been putting in the hard yards to sign the Belgian and have been in talks with his representatives over a possible move to the club this summer.
 


According to German magazine Sport Bild, Schalke have placed a big contract offer on Lukebakio’s table in order to tempt him into considering a move in the coming months.



The contract includes a salary of around €4m per season, which could go up to €5m based on his performances.

Schalke’s offer is ten times the money he is currently earning and the player is keen to consider the move,

But the Bundesliga giants remain far from agreeing on a deal with Watford as they do not want to match the Hornets' €20m asking price for the player.
