Former Scotland international midfielder Michael Stewart believes Celtic can come away from Lazio with a point in their big Europa League test on Thursday night.

Celtic are leading Group E of the Europa League with seven points and a win over Lazio at Parkhead on the previous matchday put them in a good position to qualify to the last 32 of the competition.

The Scottish champions have been poor travelers in Europe in recent years, but this season has been a little different when it comes to away games in the Europa League.

They earned a point from their trip to Rennes earlier in the campaign and Stewart believes Celtic’s form in Europe has been top class.

He still thinks that it will be difficult for Celtic to win at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night, but he can easily see them getting a draw against Lazio.

Stewart said on the Ladbrokes Social Club: “Celtic are going great guns in the Europa League.

“Their away form in Europe has improved.

“Away from home [at Lazio on Thursday], winning I think would be tough, but I can see them picking up a draw.”

A point for Celtic on Thursday night would put them on to eight points from four games and leave them in a strong position to reach the last 32.
