FC Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken has hailed the heroic performances his players produced to beat Celtic at Parkhead on Thursday night.

Celtic managed to get a 1-1 draw away at Telia Parken last week and were favourites to finish the job at home against Copenhagen in the second leg of their Europa League last 32 tie.

But Copenhagen shocked many when they took the lead in the second half and edged ahead in the tie.

Odsonne Edouard’s 83rd-minute penalty seemed like taking the game into extra time, but Copenhagen scored two in the last five minutes to clinch the tie at Parkhead.

Solbakken’s side were not the favourites to win the tie and he admits that his squad and the players put on a heroic performance in Glasgow to progress to the last 16 of the Europa League.

The Copenhagen coach told 6’eren: “We managed to put together some good attacks at the end when we scored.

“There are very small margins in this game, we have to keep that in mind, but we had a heroic performance as a team.

“And some heroic performances from the players.”

Celtic will now focus fully on domestic matters as they look to win another treble.
