Having balked at paying AC Milan €65M for Brazilian stopper Thiago Silva, Paris Saint-Germain are now considering other options as they bid to sign a top class central defender.

And according to French daily Le Parisien, one of the names on PSG’s list is none other than Chelsea defender John Terry.

The Parc des Prince outfit are desperate to bolster their backline ahead of next season, which will see a Champions League campaign combined with a push to dethrone Montpellier as Ligue 1 champions.

Now with Thiago Silva off the table, unless Milan have a change of heart over the fee needed for the Brazil international, coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen on Terry.

Ancelotti worked with Terry at Chelsea and is well aware of the 31-year-old’s abilities.

Terry has just finished a rollercoaster season at Stamford Bridge, with the joy of winning the Champions League and FA Cup balanced out by the heartbreak of missing the former’s showpiece final against Bayern Munich through suspension.

Off the pitch too there have been concerns, with an impending court case, where Terry is accused of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, to come.

While PSG accept that tempting Terry from Chelsea could be mission impossible, there is also a belief that the Englishman may just fancy a chance of scenery and new challenge late in his career.
