The official arrival of Japan’s flying left back Yuto Nagatomo at Inter has been confirmed by the Serie A club.

The Nerazzurri made a late move on deadline day to tie up a deal for Nagatomo, well aware that the full back’s performances for Cesena and with Japan at the Asian Cup had caused clubs from across Europe to sit up and take notice.

Nagatomo is believed to have gone on loan until the end of the campaign to Inter, with €6M being paid to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. As part of the move, young full back Davide Santon has joined Cesena.

The Japan star becomes the first of his countrymen to turn out for Inter and was beaming with pride at the completion of the deal.

"I’m very happy to have joined Inter, the world champions", said the 24-year-old. "Now I have to prove to everyone that I can play. What’s happened today came out of the blue, but now that I’m here I have to give it everything I’ve got."
