Ajax coach Frank de Boer has reiterated that he rejected an approach from Liverpool in the summer because he feels comfortable at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Liverpool began an extensive search when the club’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, sacked Kenny Dalglish at the end of last season, casting their net across Europe and approaching a whole host of managers with varying philosophies and styles.

However, the former Holland international knocked back the Merseyside outfit and Liverpool eventually turned to Brendan Rodgers, who landed at Anfield from Swansea City.

De Boer has now reiterated that he was approached and said ‘no’ to a proposal to talk to Liverpool.

“Liverpool wanted to have a conversation with me, but I didn’t do it”, said De Boer at a press conference.

“I feel comfortable in my seat here”, he added.

De Boer leads his side in a vital Champions League clash against Real Madrid at the Amsterdam ArenA tomorrow.

Having lost the first group game against Borussia Dortmund, he will be anxious for his men to avoid a second straight defeat.

Rodgers’ Liverpool meanwhile are in Europa League action on Thursday, with Udinese the visitors to Anfield.
