Former Manchester United and Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis believes that Arsenal could choose to sell Bacary Sagna to Anzhi Makhachkala for the right price.

Sagna is having trouble coming to an agreement with Arsenal over extending his contract, which expires in 2014. The Gunners are reluctant to hand out pay rises and long-term deals to players over 30.

And the France international right-back is wanted by Anzhi Makhachkala, who are determined to put together a tilt at the Russian Premier League title next season.

For Kanchelskis, who turned out in English football for Manchester United, Everton, Manchester City and Southampton, while he also enjoyed a stint north of the border with Rangers, Sagna could be tempted to Russia, but Arsenal may not prove to be willing sellers.

"During his years of performing in the Premier League, Sagna has proven that he is a class player", the ex-winger told Russian daily Izvestia.

"The Frenchman is very quick and can connect the defence with the attack for 90 minutes.

"I am not sure that Wenger will want to let go of the player, but if Anzhi can make Arsenal a generous offer, the English club may not be able to resist."

Sagna arrived at Arsenal in 2007, landing from French side Auxerre and quickly winning plaudits in the Premier League.

The right-back has won 33 caps at international level with Les Bleus.
