Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has lauded the high performance level team-mate Diego Lopez has been exhibiting in recent games, claiming that rather than being disappointed, he is seeing the "positive side" of things and this is spurring him to do better.

The debate on whether there should be a rotation of goalkeepers is still a hotly-contested issue in the Spanish capital. Regardless, manager Carlo Ancelotti appears keen to stick to his original plan of playing Casillas in European matches and Lopez in league matches.

While many fans are disappointed to see their club's iconic goalkeeper relegated to the bench, they certainly cannot complain about the talent Lopez is exhibiting week-in, week-out for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit, and Casillas feels the same way.

"The most important thing is Real Madrid", Casillas told Spanish daily AS.

"With this goalkeeper rotation, you can see that we are all on the winners on that. I see the positive side of it. Diego wins, I win, Real Madrid win", the Spanish number one further explained.

Casillas is also of the belief that it would be counter-productive to relegate Lopez, especially given his blistering form.

"Diego is operating at the highest level right now. And it has certainly forced me to work harder. I admit, sometimes I feel good about it, sometimes I don't.

"But if the coach believes I must play in the Champions League and Diego in La Liga, I'll keep my head down and take every opportunity given to me. The thing is, another player is playing really well right now in my place and I have to accept that", Casillas concluded.
