Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Benjamin Stambouli believes Angel di Maria’s star qualities will help the club to grow.

The Argentine is on the verge of sealing his switch to PSG from Manchester United and is expected to be presented in a press conference later today in Paris.

Di Maria arrived in the French capital yesterday following undergoing a medical with PSG in Doha and has reportedly signed a four-year contract with the club.

Stambouli, who himself joined PSG from Tottenham earlier in the summer, is excited about the prospect of teaming up with the 27-year-old next season.

The former Spurs midfielder termed Di Maria as an ‘extraordinary’ player and feels PSG need players such as the Argentine to progress as a team.

“He is an extraordinary player who delivers a lot of assists, so he will make a difference”, Stambouli told French radio station RMC.

“It is nice to see him play and he is very effective. He is not afraid of taking risks and we need players like him to progress.

“On top of that, he has a star status, so he will help the club to continue to grow. This is a very good thing and all the players are delighted.”

Following a British record move to Manchester United last summer, Di Maria struggled to justify his star billing after an initial burst of form and found himself out of Louis van Gaal’s starting eleven towards the end of the campaign.

PSG will be hoping that the former Real Madrid man manages to recapture the form that made the Red Devils fork out €75m for his services.
