Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is relishing the prospect of playing against Manchester United this weekend, adding that it will be a difficult fixture for his side.

De Bruyne landed at the Etihad Stadium earlier this summer for a record transfer fee from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg and has gone on to enjoy a great start at the Manchester outfit.

The Belgium international scored his team’s match-winning goal against Sevilla last night in a Champions League group stage encounter to take his goal tally in all competitions to five. He has also assisted five strikes for his team-mates.

The Citizens will be up against cross-town rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby this Sunday, and De Bruyne has urged his side to play to their strengths and not resort to defensive football.

“We shouldn’t play defensive because our main strength lies going forward, though we need to stay disciplined”, he was quoted as saying by his club’s site.

The midfielder, however, added that the trip to Old Trafford will be difficult for his side and it would be nice to come home with all three points in the bag.

“We know it will be difficult.

“Man United have been a top team for a long time and the rivalry between us and them obviously runs deep, but the season is very long – that said, we know what it means to our supporters and it would be nice if we could go there and get three points.”
