West Ham United midfielder Edimilson Fernandes says he is delighted to have arrived in Italy to undergo a medical with Fiorentina.

La Viola have agreed a season-long loan deal with West Ham for the player and have welcomed him to Italy to undergo his medical, ahead of sealing the agreement.

Fernandes is pleased to be on the brink of signing for Fiorentina and told reporters when he arrived: "Forza La Viola.

"I am happy to be here", he added.

West Ham have made a raft of signings this summer, backing Manuel Pellegrini with funds in the transfer market.

Now the Hammers are ready to trim their squad and Fernandes is set to move away from the London Stadium.

Fernandes joined West Ham from Swiss side Sion in 2016 and has clocked up significant game time for the London outfit.

The 22-year-old will now bid to kick on in Serie A and it remains to be seen if West Ham have seen the last of the midfielder.
