Genoa are expected to complete the signing of Achraf Lazaar from Newcastle United in the coming days.

The Rossoblu could lose left-sided star Diego Laxalt, with a move to AC Milan looking the most likely for the Uruguayan, and Genoa are focusing in on Lazaar as a replacement.

The Moroccan is out of favour at Newcastle and, according to Italian daily Il Secolo XIX, is expected to sign for Genoa soon.

Lazaar's move will take the shape of a loan deal, with Genoa holding a right to make his move permanent if he impresses at the club.

Newcastle snapped Lazaar up from Italian outfit Palermo in 2016, but he has failed to make an impact at St. James' Park.

The left-back, who can also operate on the left hand side of midfield, penned a five-year contract at Newcastle, meaning he still has another three years of his deal left to run.

The 26-year-old spent last term back in Italy on loan at Benevento.

Now Lazaar is poised to seal a return to Italy as he looks to rekindle his career.
