Former top flight star Garth Crooks has admitted to being hugely impressed with the way Liverpool swatted aside Southampton at Anfield and believes the Reds can almost score at will.

Jurgen Klopp's side made short work of Southampton and recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory to make it six wins from six in the Premier League this term.

Manchester City ran away with the league title last term, but Crooks thinks on current form Liverpool are serious contenders to take the trophy off them.

"Very impressed", Crooks said on the BBC's Final Score programme when asked what he thought of Liverpool.

"They've won this game comfortably.

"They look composed, able to score almost at will.

"This is a side that can seriously threaten City for the title", Crooks added.

Liverpool sit top of the Premier League table on 18 points after winning all of their opening six games, meaning they have a two point lead over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side, who have won five and draw one.

Next up for Liverpool is an EFL Cup trip to face Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
