Coventry City boss Mark Robins believes that Jack Ross has done an unbelievable job at Sunderland since taking over the reins last summer.

The Sky Blues return to action in League One on Saturday, when they lock horns with automatic promotion-chasers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Coventry are on a three-game winless run heading into the game, while their opponents have yet to lose a league game since the turn of the year.

And ahead of their challenging encounter on Wearside, Robins has lauded his counterpart Ross at Sunderland for doing an unbelievable job after taking over at the club last summer.

Robins admitted that Sunderland have endured a difficult few seasons following back-to-back relegations, but reiterated the extent of the impressive work done by Ross at the club.

“They’ve had some real tough times over the last couple of years with relegation from the Premier League and then last season from the Championship, so they’ll be looking to bounce back as quickly as they can”, Robins told the club’s official website.

“They have a few injuries that they’ve had to cope with, and the manager has come down from Scotland and has done an unbelievable job.”

The Coventry boss also conceded it will be a difficult game for his team on Wearside, but stressed they are relishing the opportunity in the hope of getting a result on Saturday.

“It will be a difficult test, but it’s one we are all relishing and we want to continue the form that we have been showing and hopefully we can turn things on its head and get a result”, he added.

Coventry managed to come from behind to salvage a point against Sunderland during the reverse fixture between the sides at the Ricoh Arena back in September.
