Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren is aware he is now the fourth choice central defender at Anfield, amid interest from Italian giants AC Milan and Roma, according to the Times.

AC Milan have been eyeing a move for Lovren so far this summer and have been in meetings with the player’s representatives over a transfer.

Liverpool’s initial financial demands did put off the Rossoneri, but the Reds could be open to selling the Croatian before the end of the European window on 2nd September.

It has been claimed that Roma have jumped into the race to sign Lovren and have opened talks with Liverpool to discuss a deal to take him to the Stadio Olimpico.

And the centre-back is prepared for a move as he recognises that he is no more than fourth choice at the back in Jurgen Klopp’s squad this season.

Liverpool have dropped their demands for the Croatian and have now set an asking price of £15m for him.

The 30-year-old did not even make the bench in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Norwich City on Friday night.

The defender could pack his bags and move to Italy if one of his Serie A suitors agree a deal with Liverpool.
