Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has agreed personal terms on a contract with Roma ahead of a proposed move to the Serie A giants this summer, it has been claimed in Italy.

The Croatian has dropped down the pecking order at Liverpool this season and did not even make the bench in their 4-1 win over Norwich City at Anfield on Friday.

The Croatian is aware that he might have to move on from Liverpool if he is to play regular football in the rest of the 2019/20 campaign.

AC Milan have long been interested in the 30-year-old, but Roma are the ones who are leading the race to land Lovren this summer.

The Serie A giants have already been in talks with Liverpool and, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, they have a broad agreement in place with the defender himself.

Personal terms have been worked out between Roma and the player’s representatives and Lovren has agreed to take a pay cut to aid his transfer.

The Reds have also dropped their asking price for Lovren and are prepared to accept a fee in the region of €20m.

Roma are looking to further negotiate and are eyeing signing him for around €15m to €16m.

Liverpool will not be able to buy a replacement due to the early closure of the Premier League transfer window.
