Mario Mandzukic would prefer a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window, with Juventus open to waiving a fee for him, it has been claimed.

Mandzukic was a target for Manchester United in the summer and the club are claimed to be very close to signing him before the start of the season.  

 



It has been suggested that only a lack of time prevented the move as Manchester United experienced slow negotiations with Inter to sell Romelu Lukaku and the Premier League transfer window closed almost a full month earlier than everywhere else in Europe.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United will rekindle their interest in Mandzukic during the January transfer window in their attempt to bolster their attacking options.
 


And it has been claimed that the striker is keen on a move to Manchester United and ended negotiations to move to Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan this month.



Mandzukic wants to play in the Premier League and Juventus are prepared to consider waiving a transfer fee due to his service to the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aware that the Croatian will not be long term option but he wants to add his elite level experience to the dressing room

The veteran striker would also add a different kind of option to his squad, which Solskjaer does not have at the moment.

The Manchester United manager has conceded that he will try to add goalscorers and creativity to his squad in the next few transfer windows.
