Former Eredivisie striker Robin Nelisse is not surprised to see Arsenal and Liverpool target Jorrel Hato is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 18-year-old centre-back recently signed a new four-year contract with Ajax to extend his stay in Amsterdam until the summer of 2028.

Few believe that Hato will still in at Ajax by 2028 though and he has been mooted as a target for a host of clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

Ajax are confident that the new deal will keep him at the club for at least next season though, but Nelisse is not surprised to see Premier League clubs show interest in Hato at this stage of his career.

Ex-Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar man Nelisse insisted that his development at 18 has been fantastic and indicated that he wants to see him at Ajax for another three years.

The former striker told De Telegraaf: “It is not without reason that there has already been a lot of interest from England.

“If you see where he is at the age of 18, it is fantastic.

“I am curious to see where he will be if he continues to develop like this at Ajax for another three years.”

A product of the Ajax academy, Hato has already made 52 senior appearances for the Dutch giants.
