Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders is not under consideration for the coach’s role at Ajax, it has been claimed in the Netherlands.

Lijnders will be leaving Liverpool alongside Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season and there are murmurs over his next course of action.

He has been linked with a move to Ajax who are looking to bring in a new coach in the summer.

There were suggestions that the Liverpool assistant boss was on Ajax’s shortlist of probable coach candidates.

However, according to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Lijnders is not under consideration at Ajax for the coach’s job.

Ajax’s priority is to bring in a Dutch head coach in line with the traditions of the Dutch giants.

They will only turn to coaches of other nationalities if they fail to bring in a Dutchman in the coming months.

Lijnders’ name has been discussed at Ajax but not for the coach’s role as his previous experience at NEC Nijmegen ended in a disaster.

Ajax could want him to be part of their coaching staff under a new head coach next season.

However, the Dutchman is likely to want to resume his managerial career somewhere after leaving Liverpool.
