Aston Villa targeted defender Mario Hermoso is being monitored by two Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.

The 28-year-old centre-back will be out of contract at the end of the season and is not expected to sign a new deal at Atletico Madrid.

As things stand, the defender is likely to move on from the Wanda Metropolitano on a free transfer in the summer.

Aston Villa are reportedly in pole position to secure a deal to take him to the Midlands in the next transfer window.

It has been claimed that as many as two Premier League clubs are closely keeping an eye on his situation in the Spanish capital.

The potential of him being a free agent in the summer has made him a lucrative target for several teams.

A move to England is a genuine possibility with two unnamed clubs in the Premier League eyeing him.

Hermoso also has suitors in Italy where AC Milan, Inter and Juventus are keeping tabs on his situation.
