Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala has piled the pressure on Oxford United ahead of this evening’s clash, warning the U’s they have more to lose.

With both sides fighting for places in the playoffs in League One, the match inside the Kassam Stadium could be crucial in determining who finishes where.

Ahead of the match, Lincoln boss Skubala took time to reveal his view that Oxford have more to lose than his team and would likely settle for a point.

“For sure [Oxford United will have more to lose]”, Skubala told his club’s official channel.

“I think they have got to hang on to their points. They definitely will accept a draw I think. So, I think it is going to be tough for us.”

The fact that the pressure will be more on Oxford United means that Lincoln will have the option to play more freely, something that they were unable to do in their last match against Wigan, according to the manager.

“That was one thing I did feel in the first ten, 15 minutes against Wigan. It did feel like we had something to lose all of a sudden.

“I think sometimes it is easy to be chasers, but it is what it is.

“We have just got to take this game as another game and if we get three points who knows what happens in the next few games.”

Oxford will be desperate to cling on to sixth spot and boast a three-point advantage over seventh placed Blackpool, while they are five points better off than Lincoln.

The U’s won the earlier meeting between the two teams 2-0.
