Former top flight striker Jan Aage Fjortoft believes that worries about Arne Slot should be allayed by the fact that Liverpool’s Michael Edwards is leading the hunt for him.

Slot has emerged as the man Liverpool want to take over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, but some fans have serious concerns.

The Dutchman has never managed or played outside the Netherlands, while after this season he will have won the Eredivisie title once in three attempts with Feyenoord.

Bayern Munich, who are also on the looking for a manager, are claimed to feel Slot does not yet have the experience to take charge of them.

For some Liverpool fans, Slot is not a convincing choice, but Fjortoft has sought to allay their fears by pointing to Edwards.

He wrote on X: “What’s speak for Arne Slot is the thorough process Liverpool are doing now.

“Led by one of the best in our business, Michael Edwards.”

Liverpool have also been linked with other possible Klopp successors, including Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou.

Slot however is the manager that Liverpool are now pushing to take to Anfield.
